A group of former OpenAI and other tech companies have warned about the significant impact of OpenAI on human existence, saying the advancement in technology could pose a serious threat to human existence.
In the letter signed by the workers of the AI tech companies, they argued that AI researchers need to be watched to have a blueprint of what they’re bringing to the public regarding advancement in AI.
They added that the tech companies need to be looked into by policymakers and the government over the direction of AI innovation.
“We believe in the potential of AI technology to deliver unprecedented benefits to humanity.
“We also understand the serious risks posed by these technologies. These risks range from the further entrenchment of existing inequalities to manipulation and misinformation, to the loss of control of autonomous AI systems potentially resulting in human extinction”, the letter reads.
The group stressed that AI-developing companies constructing AI in comparison to human intelligence have strong financial incentives to avoid effective oversight.
They believed that any lab working on the development of AGI must be made to prove itself worthy of trust by the public and workers as there’s a threat against the development of human existence.
