Major General Um Mohammed, a former director of Nigerian army properties limited, is facing a military court martial for allegedly stealing billions of naira from serving and retired officers for post-retirement houses that could not be found, according to Vanguard.
“He is also being held because he cannot account for the billions of naira earned as a result of the selling of NA properties and lands around the region,” a senior officer who spoke to the situation.
“He is claiming that the funds were used on orders to cover his deceitful schemes. But before this final fraud, he had committed other crimes, and I can tell you with certainty that he tried to lobby the army authorities to postpone the court martial without success, including recruiting many emirs.
“This led to the present COAS decision to court martial him. All his mates have retired but since he is facing the court he cannot be retired until judgment is delivered”.
