With the continuing military onslaught in Ukraine, President Zelenskyy had lamented the fact that his country is alone in this crisis despite the promise of help from the US-led NATO of their support if Russia attacked.
With President Putin ordering his men to start military operation in the early hour of Thursday in Ukraine which he tagged “Operation Demilitarization” in order to bring justice to Russians who had been a victim of oppression in the country, and the refusal of the US-led NATO to make reprisal on the attack dawn on President Zelenskyy that, the Ukrainians are alone in the conflicts.
According to an official statement made by the Ukrainian President on his discussion with European leaders and USA, he said “I asked them, are you with us?, and their reply was “Yes, they are with us”.
In his remark, he asserts that “Yes they are with us, but they didn’t want to take us into the alliance”. He said that he already asked the leaders of Europe if Ukraine will be given NATO membership but they were all afraid to reply. According to a statement made by the US President on the invasion, he said: “The USA will not intervene in the military might in Eastern Europe, but they are imposing sanctions which will weaken the economy of Russia for years which won’t even make them think of any such events in the near future”.
With the late response from US-led NATO on the situation, President Zelenskyy is hoping to give a round of thought on Russia’s wish of them playing neutral in the politics between the two superpowers, but he’s waiting for military guarantee and assurance of their safety if they accede to Russia request.
The negligence of Zelenskyy has caused him major damage in the first 2 days of Russia’s incursion in his country, his hope on US-NATO and other countries of the world to take action has been in abysmal failure, he neglected the fact that Russia was a power to battle with by most countries of the world.
