The United States of America and the European Union imposed additional sanctions on Iran on Friday, in response to its continued supply of weaponry to Russia and various terrorist organizations in the Middle East.
The individuals and bodies sanctioned include members of the Iranian parliament, Information and Communications Technology Issa Zarepour, members of the IRGC, and members of the Iranian regime’s police. Addi
The Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry, Education Ministry, and Press TV were also subject to sanctions.
Furthermore, the sanctions were a response to Iran’s military support for armed groups in the Middle East and the Red Sea region, as stated on the Council of the European Union’s website.
The USA also issued sanctions against Iran on Friday, targeting entities it accused of enabling Iran’s drone program. This action by Washington aims to disrupt the production and proliferation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by Russia against Ukraine.
In the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war since February 2022, Iran has provided Russia with thousands of Shahed kamikaze drones. These drones have been strategically deployed to target Ukrainian air defenses and infrastructure far from the front lines, playing a significant role in the conflict.
