The delegation of U.S. lawmakers that paid a visit to Taiwan to meet with the current President Lai Ching-te has declared the United States’ support for the Island in the face of a heated confrontation with China.
According to the delegation, they disclosed the U.S. commitment to support the Taiwan military both economically and diplomatically as tensions with China are on the rise.
Lai Ching-te welcomed the diplomatic mission to Taiwan saying their visit is an important gesture of solidarity amid possible confrontation with Beijing.
He added that, with the U.S. continuous support, the Island will achieve total independence from the threat of China which continues to pose a threat to its sovereignty.
