In a phone call today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his deepest condolences to Iran’s interim President Mohammad Mokhber following the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi. President Erdogan also extended his sympathies to the family of Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and other officials who perished in the helicopter crash.
“We stand by Iran in these painful days,” President Erdogan stated, highlighting the strong and enduring ties between the two neighbouring nations.
The discovery of the crash site was notably aided by a Turkish drone, which located the wreckage after hours of intense search efforts. The drone’s involvement and the Turkish President’s message show the regional bonds and the importance of mutual support during times of national tragedy.
A funeral procession for Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will be held in the north-western city of Tabriz on Tuesday, local media reported.
