Trump Files $10 Billion Lawsuit Over Harris Interview on ’60 Minutes’
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against CBS, accusing the network of airing a misleading interview of his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, on “60 Minutes.” According to the court filing in the Northern District of Texas, the October 6 episode allegedly edited Harris’s response to a question about the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, leaving out what Trump calls a “word salad” answer regarding the Biden administration’s influence on Israel’s actions.
CBS Dismisses Claims as Baseless
CBS has firmly denied the allegations, with a spokesperson calling the claims “completely without merit” and asserting the network’s intent to vigorously defend itself. They pointed out that Trump had originally planned to give his own interview on “60 Minutes” but later withdrew. CBS stated that the version aired reflected Harris’s response accurately and dismissed Trump’s claims as another campaign tactic.
High-Stakes Battle Amid Tight Election Race
This lawsuit adds fuel to the fiery campaign atmosphere as Trump and Harris engage in a close race for the presidency. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and damages amounting to $10 billion, with Trump citing a Texas law against deceptive practices in business. Trump has also threatened to revoke CBS’s broadcasting license if elected, intensifying his criticisms of the network as election day draws near.
