With his greatest hit ever, “Blinding Lights,” The Weeknd refuses to stop changing the direction of music chart history. Over the span of his decade-long career in the music industry, the Toronto native has picked up a slew of huge hits.
His most memorable album to date is “Blinding Lights,” which spent a year in the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10.
The Weeknd surpassed LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” as the longest-reigning number 1 album on the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10 this week, dropping it to 8 positions in the chart.
For a record of 69 weeks on the influential music chart, “Blinding Lights” has reportedly been the fourth-longest overall stay.
“Blinding Lights” is the longest-reigning chart-topper in Hot 100 history, but it still has a long way to go to become the chart’s longest-reigning overall album.
Despite never hitting 1, Imagine Dragons’ hit “Radioactive” spent 87 weeks in the Top 10. “Sail” by AWOLNATION lasted 79 weeks on the charts before reaching 17. “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz spent 76 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.
With “Blinding Lights” already in the Top 10, The Weeknd is getting recognition in another few months and is on the way to becoming the chart’s longest-reigning overall album.
