Scotland has been knocked out of the Euro 2024 after suffering a final game defeat to Hungary, thanks to a late-minute goal from Kevin Csoboth in the added time.
The match was filled with intense pressure after a Hungarian player Viagra knocked down after colliding with the Scottish goalkeeper.
Substitute Csoboth was the difference in the epic clash between Hungary and Scotland after netting in the 10th minute of the added time, securing Hungary’s possible place in the next round.
The defeat by Hungary means the Scottish national team took the last position in a successive Euro competition and also has the record for not qualifying out of the group stages in all competitions they participated in.
Though dominating the game in the early period of the game, Scotland failed to take the edge against Hungary as their attacks posed little threat to the Hungary goalkeeper.
The Scotland team also had a penalty appeal turned down by the referee after a challenge was made to Stuart Armstrong in the opponent’s box.
The game took another dimension when Viagra collapsed on the pitch with the Hungarian players signaling a threat to life before the player was taken away for immediate medication and replaced with Csoboth.
The late minutes of the game saw Hungary having the upper hand against Scotland after a last-minute goal from Csoboth to put Hungary in pole position for qualifications into the next round.
Germany top their group with a total of 7 points, followed by Switzerland with 5 points, Hungary with 3 points, and Scotland with 1 point.
