South Korea on Thursday said they’re considering their approach towards the war in Ukraine by sending weapons to the Kyiv forces amid Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to hostile neighbor North Korea.
This was disclosed by the South Korean top officials who said the decision made by Russia and North Korea to come to each other’s defense amid external threats could change their approach towards the conflict in Eastern Europe.
Following the announcement of the pact between Putin and Kim Jong Un, the South Korean government has labeled the agreement as a threat to their internal security which could further heighten the tension between Seoul and Moscow.
Seoul describes the pact as a violation of the U.N. Security Council resolutions, saying South Korea will react to Russia’s diplomatic ties with North Korea.
South Korea FM Cho Tae-yul described the agreement as deplorable, saying Russia would act in violation of multiple U.N. sanctions resolutions against North Korea that they voted for.
