The installation of a massive “X” sign on the roof of Elon Musk’s Twitter headquarters without proper authorization is facing opposition from San Francisco building inspectors.
According to Patrick Hannan, a spokesman for the building inspector, both California City Planning Commission permission and building permits are required to ensure structural integrity and secure panel installation, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
The building department stated that the necessary permissions were not obtained for the removal of the previous “@twitter” letters from the building, and the installation of the new “X” sign is also considered a security concern.
Last week, Elon Musk expressed his intention to change Twitter’s logo to the beloved and iconic “X” of the bird symbol.
“If a compelling X logo is released tonight, we will showcase it worldwide tomorrow,” stated Musk, who acquired the social media platform for $44 billion last year. The site’s controversial changes led to a decline in value, with advertisers and users expressing complaints and fleeing the platform.
