Vladimir Putin promised to forge trade and security alliances with North Korea that are independent of Western influence. This comes as he prepares to visit Pyongyang for the first time in 24 years.
The information was revealed In a letter published in North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the ruling Workers’ Party, the Russian president emphasized that over the past 70 years, the two countries have built strong relationships and partnerships based on fairness, mutual respect, and trust.
Putin expressed gratitude to North Korea for backing Russia’s termed “special military operation” in Ukraine and pledged support for Pyongyang’s endeavors to protect its interests in the face of what he described as “U.S. pressure, blackmail, and military threats”.
North Korean state media published articles lauding Russia and endorsing its actions in Ukraine as a “sacred war of all Russian citizens.”
