Russia has announced its intention to continue maintaining diplomatic ties with North Korea amid Western criticism.
This was confirmed in a statement released by the Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov on Thursday.
Peskov said the relationship between Pyongyang and Moscow is anticipated to rise as Russia declares North Korea their neighbor.
“The potential for the development of our bilateral relations is enormous. We believe that our right to foster good relations with our neighbors should not cause concern, and cannot and should not be disputed by anyone”, Peskov said.
Peskov added that President Putin’s planned visit to North Korea will also solidify their relationship as Kim Jong Un of North Korea visited Russia in a bid to maintain a closer relationship with foreign countries.
The Kremlin spokesperson said, Russia is currently monitoring the ongoing G7 summit and will react in a way that’ll suit the interest of Russia regarding sanctions imposed on them including the Moscow Stock Exchange by the United States.
