President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan praised Türkiye’s remarkable progress in the defense industry over the past two decades, highlighting the country’s expanding portfolio as a testament to its capabilities. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul, Erdoğan described the strides made in the defense sector as a reference, a source of inspiration, and a glimpse into the nation’s potential.
The 16th edition of IDEF, a four-day expo, featured approximately 1,500 companies, with 689 from Türkiye and 772 from various countries worldwide, in addition to nearly 200 delegations. The event attracted over 100,000 visitors, including 15% foreigners, and facilitated Türkiye in signing multiple export and cooperation agreements with other nations.
Erdoğan highlighted that IDEF, showcasing the latest indigenous technologies and products from Türkiye, such as drones, marine platforms, air defense systems, next-generation weapons, and armored vehicles, had become a recognized global brand. The increasing number of exhibitors and companies, as well as the growing range of Turkish defense products, served as evidence of the fair’s international prominence.
