The US State Department has called for the Implementation of the Gaza ceasefire as a lasting solution to the escalating tensions in the Middle East with recent hostility between Israel and Lebanon.
Israel and Lebanon have been hostile towards each other due to the escalation of the crisis in Gaza, with Hezbollah and the IDF making targets towards each airspace.
The US State Department spokesperson Matt Miller expressed deep concern over the hostility between Lebanon and Israel, saying there’s the possibility of a full-scale confrontation between the two countries.
He posited that diplomatic resolution between Lebanon and Israel can only be achieved if a ceasefire could be implemented in Gaza which the United States believes can end the confrontation.
“It doesn’t mean you can say with 100 percent certainty that you wouldn’t be able to get a ceasefire in the north without resolution in Gaza, but certainly having a ceasefire in Gaza makes a resolution in the north much, much easier”, he concluded.
The Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon continued to strike targets in Israel as part of the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Should a ceasefire not be agreed upon, analysts have predicted a blown-out war in the Middle East between Israel and the Muslim world.
