The National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, believes that the court order from the Kano State High Court obtained by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to prevent his invitation, arrest, and prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is insufficient to protect him from legal repercussions.
The party secretary said this while addressing reporters in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, emphasizing that the extensive corruption by successive Nigerian governments and politicians has significantly undermined the nation’s democracy.
He expressed concern, stating, “The ongoing resistance of former governors to EFCC investigations is increasingly troubling.”
The Kano State High Court’s order obtained by Senator Kwankwaso to halt the EFCC prompted Oginni to clarify that the NNPP, as a law-abiding political party, has engaged the relevant government agency responsible for tackling corruption in Nigeria.
Oginni also criticized Senator Kwankwaso’s decision to quickly seek court protection, stating that “the haste in obtaining a court order raises questions.”
“If Senator Kwankwaso and his defunct NWC are truly as clean as they claim to be, they should have no reason to evade the EFCC’s investigation.”
