Spain’s President His Majesty King Felipe VI welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Spain as he set for a crucial meeting with the Spanish government.
Zelensky is expected to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez as both leaders are poised to hold talks and sign a bilateral agreement.
Zelensky also sought military aid for the Ukrainian forces while also extending military cooperation with the Spanish forces which would include training the Ukrainian forces in the use of modern warfare.
This visit was confirmed by the Ukrainian President through his official X account where he posted “It is a special honor for Ukraine and Ukrainians that, upon my arrival in Spain, His Majesty King Felipe VI personally welcomed our delegation.
During the visit, we will sign a bilateral security agreement and hold talks with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
We intend to discuss our ongoing defense cooperation, the preparation of a new military aid package, and training for Ukrainian soldiers.
We have two summits coming up: the Peace Summit and the European Council. We will coordinate our efforts to ensure that both result in tangible outcomes.
I also plan to be received by His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain and meet leaders of the Spanish parliament’s chambers and fractions.”
