The Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander DeCroo announced his intention to resign from his position on Monday.
The announcement came after the Prime Minister party the Flemish Liberals and Democrats lost their election at the European Parliament election.
Speaking today, Alexander DeCroo announced, “Tomorrow I will resign as Prime Minister”, a decision which has further stirred the political situation in Belgium.
The Prime Minister party could only secure a total of 5.9% out of the 90% of votes counted, with DeCroo affirming the party will bounce back after their electoral loss.
The Prime Minister will retain his interim position until the King convenes a consultation to form a new government.
