A district court in Islamabad on Thursday dismissed allegations against the PTI leader Imran Khan over the May 9 riot.
The presiding judge in its verdict said there’s insufficient evidence on the two cases related to the former Prime Minister.
Imran Khan was accused of orchestrating violence following his arrest when his supporters vandalized and destroyed public property, including a sensitive army installation in 2022.
Making a verdict on the incident, the court stressed the Insufficiency of evidence provided by the prosecuting team, making the second case the PTI leader would have been acquitted of regarding the May 9 attack.
Imran Khan is still remanded in prison under tight security with other PTI leaders for various allegations related to the May 9 violence as the state was submerged into anarchy by his supporters.
