Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was stranded in Israel during the October 7 Hamas attacks, is now facing intense backlash on social media for posting “All Eyes On Rafah” on her Instagram story. The phrase has gained traction following a deadly Israeli airstrike on Rafah, a southern city in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of at least 45 Palestinians.
Bharuccha, currently vacationing in Italy, has been labelled a “hypocrite” by social media users who accuse her of disregarding the October 7 attacks that left her stranded in Israel. Critics have questioned her motives, highlighting the assistance she received from the Indian and Israeli governments to safely return to India from Tel Aviv. One user commented, “Where were your eyes on October 7?” while another remarked, “Girl, you were in Israel when Hamas attacked, and now you’re posting this—it’s unbelievable.”
The situation has ignited heated discussions about empathy and consistency in the context of international conflicts. Many question the appropriateness of Bharuccha’s post given her recent experience in Israel during a critical moment of crisis.
Bharuccha is not alone in her expression of solidarity with Palestinians. Several other prominent Indian celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Kriti Sanon, Kareena Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Rashmika Mandanna, Sonakshi Sinha, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Triptii Dimri, Dia Mirza, and Richa Chadha, have also shared “All Eyes On Rafah” on their Instagram stories.
Alia Bhatt re-shared a post emphasizing that all children deserve “love, safety, peace, and life,” while Priyanka Chopra, despite facing previous criticism for her stance as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, added the phrase to her story.
