The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has taken disciplinary action by expelling Amb. Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 elections, alongside 15 others, citing alleged gross misconduct.
The decision was announced on Thursday in a communiqué released following a joint meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), National Working Committee (NWC), and Board of Trustees (BOT) held in Lagos.
According to the communiqué signed by Com. Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the National Secretary, and Mr Abdulrazaq Abdulsalam, the National Publicity Secretary, the expulsion of all 16 members was attributed to gross misconduct and their failure to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.
The list of expelled members includes prominent figures such as Dr. Tosin Odeyemi (Osun State), Mr. Peter Ologunokun (Ondo State), Prince Ibrahim Adekunle (Ogun State), and others from various states across the country.
The expulsion of Amb. Ajadi Oguntoyinbo and 15 others from the NNPP underscores the party’s commitment to upholding discipline and ethical standards among its members. The decision reflects the party’s stance on accountability and adherence to its internal disciplinary processes.
Furthermore, the NNPP explicitly denied any discussions regarding a potential merger or alliance with other political parties. Additionally, the party issued a warning against engaging in such discussions, specifically mentioning Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s former presidential candidate, and cautioning that any individual involved in merger or alliance talks with Kwankwaso does so at their own risk.
