The leader of the NDA alliance Narendra Modi has been announced unanimously for the position of the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time in the history of the country.
Modi, who has been at the helm of affairs for over a decade now in India, will continue to lead the BJP for a rare third term, which has been achieved only once in the history of the country.
Despite putting up strong opposition, the India alliance led by the Congress Party failed to form the next government as the BJP party was quick enough to secure support from its regional allies to form the next government.
Upon his appointment, Modi reaffirmed the people’s trust in his leadership, saying the government will continue to be a government of the NDA now and forever.
Full results from the Indian election, which began in April, were finalised on Wednesday, with the BJP winning 240 seats, going short of the 272 seats needed to form a majority in the parliament.
The alliance of the NDA was able to bring the tally to 293 seats out of the 543 seats in the parliament, while the Congress gathered a historic vote of 232 seats.
