Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has been acquitted by a jury in the United Kingdom following a sexual assault trial. The trial revolved around accusations made by four men, who claimed that the alleged incidents occurred between 2001 and 2013.
The jury at Southwark Crown Court in South London reached a majority verdict on nine charges, including sexual assault, after more than 12 hours of deliberation. This decision came after four weeks of trial proceedings. Throughout the trial, the Oscar-winning actor maintained his plea of not guilty to all charges.
During the trial, all four alleged victims, whose identities are protected under British law, as well as Spacey himself, testified. The trial featured testimonies that described Spacey as a “sexual bully” and a predator.
Prior to the trial, Kevin Spacey was known for his role in the Netflix series House of Cards. However, he was fired from the show in 2017 after fellow actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual misconduct.
