Kano State is currently witnessing a form of protest against the decision of the State Governor over the dethronement of Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir of the State replacing him with former Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II.
Following the saga that ensued on Thursday when the State Governor amended the 2019 law that led to the deposition of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, the current administration expelled the posts created by his predecessor which divided the Emirate into five with immediate effect.
On Friday, the former Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II was welcomed back into the State by his supporters where he was reinstated and led the jumah prayer.
After his installation, political upheaval arose in the state as deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero arrived in the state on Saturday to battle for his position he was surrounded by thousands of followers who escorted him to the second Emir Palace in Gidan Nasarawa.
The fracas between the Royal family has caused division within the state as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ordered the immediate arrest of the deposed Emir for security purposes.
While the crisis continues, supporters of the deposed Emir took to the streets demanding the reinstatement of Aminu Ado Bayero, calling on the Governor to respect the court’s decision to put a halt to the reinstallation of Sanusi.
The angry supporters with their placards urged the Governor to return Aminu Ado Bayero to his rightful position and not submerge the state into a further crisis.
