The Dutch artist Joost Klein has been officially disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) made the announcement after an incident involving the 26-year-old rapper and singer.
Following Joost Klein’s performance in Thursday night’s Semi-Final, a female member of the production crew filed a complaint with Swedish police. The investigation revealed inappropriate behaviour by Joost Klein, leading to his disqualification. Contrary to some media reports, this incident did not involve any other performers or delegation members.
The EBU maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour at the Eurovision Song Contest. In light of this, Joost Klein’s actions were deemed a breach of contest rules. As a result, he will not be competing in the Grand Final.
With Joost Klein’s disqualification, the number of participating songs in the Grand Final has been reduced from 26 to 25. The Netherlands, originally scheduled to perform as song number five, will no longer be part of the lineup. Israel’s chances of winning the competition are now even higher.
The Grand Final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will proceed with the remaining 25 songs, and fans around the world await the exciting conclusion of this musical extravaganza.
