Iran has reportedly utilized hypersonic missiles for the first time during its recent missile strikes against Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that Fattah-2 hypersonic missiles were employed to bypass Israeli radar systems, marking a new phase in Iran’s military capabilities and its ongoing confrontation with Israel. The strikes targeted two Israeli Air Force bases and the headquarters of Israel’s Mossad intelligence service, as stated by Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri.
The missile attack, which occurred on October 1, involved approximately 180 missiles aimed at various military installations across Israel. This operation follows a series of escalatory actions between Iran and Israel, particularly after the assassination of key Hezbollah leaders by Israeli forces. Reports indicate that the missile strikes were a direct response to these provocations, highlighting the fragile state of security in the Middle East.
Iranian media claimed that the strikes successfully hit their intended targets, including Nevatim Air Base, which houses Israel’s F-35 fighter jets.
