Houthi launched an attack on the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower in the Red Sea in response to US and British strikes on Yemen, stated Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree on Friday.
He mentioned that six US and British strikes caused 16 fatalities and 41 injuries, including civilians, in a televised statement.
According to Saree, the strikes in the province of Hodeidah specifically aimed at the port of Salif, a radio building in Al-Hawk district, Ghalifa camp, and two residential houses.
The US and British militaries stated that they conducted strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen on Thursday to prevent the terrorist group from further disrupting shipping in the Red Sea.
According to the US Central Command, US and British forces targeted 13 locations in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.
The British defense ministry reported that the coordinated operation aimed at three sites within the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah alleged to harbor drones and surface-to-air weapons.
In Tehran, Iran, which supports the Houthis, criticized the strikes, calling them violations of Yemen’s borders and international laws, according to Iranian state media.
