Israel Minister Benny Gantz is set to announce his party’s withdrawal from the Israeli government on Saturday evening, confirming expectations of the National Unity party’s exit.
Last month, he issued an ultimatum to Netanyahu, demanding commitment to a shared vision for the Gaza conflict by June 8th.
However, there are currently no negotiations or efforts among coalition parties to reconcile with Gantz and secure his continued presence in the coalition beyond the deadline.
Although Netanyahu will remain in power, his position will be weakened, intensifying the pressure for new elections.
Gantz’s popularity increased over PM Netanyahu, with his National Unity party gaining two seats to reach a total of 27, according to a survey published on Friday in Maariv. Conversely, Likud dropped by two seats, falling to 20.
