Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has arrived in Germany for a “technical” visit to Giga Berlin.
On Monday afternoon, Tesla CEO Elon Musk arrived at the Giga Berlin car plant. On Sunday, he flew into Berlin’s (BER) airport in a private jet.
Tesla’s European manufacturing facility is set to open later this year. Musk confirmed in an interview with local media that he plans to start production by the end of 2021.
In recent weeks, Elon Musk has been embroiled in a series of market crises with Bitcoin pundits over his decision to dump the famous cryptocurrency due to climate concerns.
Although the Tesla CEO has made a number of actions that affect the whole crypto market, that hasn’t stopped him from carrying out other important tasks for his business.
According to Jörg Steinbach, the State of Brandenburg’s Minister of Economics, Labor, and Energy, Tesla told his team directly last week that Musk would be visiting Germany on May 14th.
Some Tesla fans gathered near the construction site with homemade signs that read, for example, “We love the Mission” or “We are skipping school for you,” according to Brandenburg’s public radio station RBB 24.
This meeting did not take place, but according to his plane tracker, Musk arrived in Germany on May 16th.
After a short 76-minute flight from London to Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Musk arrived in Germany.
According to Steinbach, the tour is mostly technical, and Musk has not arranged meetings with him or Brandenburg’s Minister-President Dietmar Woidke.
Musk has already visited Germany twice, the first in September 2020 and the second in November 2020, where he directly interviewed engineering candidates interested in working at Giga Berlin.
Local officials, including Steinbach and Woidke, have been very supportive of the plant.
