Taiwa Premier have slammed Elon Musk on his comment about Taiwan striking a reasonable agreement with China, saying Elon Musk is a business who only wanted to promote his electric car business.
In a parliamentary session on Tuesday, Taiwan’s most senior politician Su said “Elon Musk has a big car factory in Shanghai and he wants to promote his electric vehicles, a businessman may say this today and say that tomorrow,” he said.
Elon Musk, Tesla CEO and Founder have been the subject of online criticism since last week over his comment about a peaceful negotiation between Russia and Ukraine, saying that’s the possible way to avoid nuclear war.
Musk yet again also has his say on Taiwan/China’s strained relationship which has been going on for months, according to the Chinese government, they’re ready to use force in protecting the “One-China Policy”.
In an interview with Financial Times, Elon Musk believed that striking a reasonable agreement with China would be in the best interest of the Island and its people.
Musk said, “my recommendation would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that’s reasonably palatable, probably won’t make everyone happy.”
Musk believed that Taiwan can be a self-ruling entity under China, and they could have a more preferable agreement that’ll be more suitable than Hong Kong style.
Taiwan’s premier said Elon Musk’s speech showed he doesn’t know much about the Island and its struggle for self-rule, saying Musk’s suggestion of Taiwan becoming a special administrative zone for China doesn’t go well.
The Taiwanese government has vehemently rejected being under China, believing that, the 23 million people living on the island have the right to decide their future without external interference.
China on their side remains adamant about incorporating Taiwan under its wing, they devised a “one country, two systems” model of self-ruling for Taiwan just as given to Hong Mong, but the model has been rejected by Taiwan politicians.
