Criminal charges against renounced golfer Scottie Scheffler have been dropped after Jefferson County Attorney disclosed their intent of withdrawing the Cass against the Number 1 golfer that arose from an unfortunate incident outside the PGA Championship in May.
In the withdrawal of the case, the prosecuting Attorney Mike O’Connell has canceled any future filing of the case during a hearing on Wednesday.
He said his office can’t go further with the charges against the athlete based on the evidence they gathered so far.
He added that there was a misunderstanding in the evidence provided against Mr. Scottie after reviewing all evidence brought against him made the result the same.
He further added that Mr. Scottie’s action during their exchange didn’t signal any element of criminal offenses as the athlete intended to move on following the verdict.
