Notorious bandit and one of the deadliest leaders terrorizing Northern Nigeria in the last decade, Buharin Yadi met his bitter end at the hands of security forces, sparking jubilation in Kaduna-Katsina border communities as the news spread.
The information was reported by Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner overseeing the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, on Thursday.
“Buharin Yadi was engaged in extensive cattle rustling, arms trading, and drug trafficking. Leading his gang, he pillaged communities, resulting in the slaughter and kidnapping of thousands of citizens in Kaduna and neighboring states.”
He stated that troops from Sector 6 Operation Whirl Punch had launched a decisive attack on the kingpin Buhari Alhaji Halidu, alias Buharin Yadi, and his associates, bringing an abrupt end to their reign of terror.
According to the report, Halidu was neutralized in a fierce battle with troops led by Major General MLD Saraso, who serves as both their Commander and the General Officer Commanding of One Division Nigerian Army. The engagement took place near Idasu forest, at the boundary between Giwa LGA of Kaduna State and Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.
