Three people have been arrested for disrespectful behaviour against the Chinese national anthem during a World Cup qualifier between Iran and Hong Kong.
The arrested victim failed to stand up in respect and turned their back during the recitation of the anthem before the game.
The Hong Kong police said on Friday following the arrest of two men and a woman.
The Hong Kong police said on Thursday that the individuals were arrested because they turned their backs toward the pitch and did not stand for the playing of the national anthem.
A statement read that there have been reports that anyone who intentionally and publicly insults the national anthem in any way commits a crime. Should they be convicted, the three individuals will face up to three years in jail and a fine of HK$50,000.
