The Chinese official had continuously warned the U.S of intending damages and consequences if they support or have any relationship with Taiwan as it will undermine the One China principle.
The U.S had continued to show support for the Taiwanese in helping them recognize the freedom and independence of Taiwan.
It’s to be noteworthy that, China had reiterated its stance on not recognizing the independence of Taiwan, and that the Taiwan island remained a part and parcel of China.
In the face of the ongoing U.S recognition of Taiwan’s independence, the U.S House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi had propose a planned visit to Taiwan, reacting to Pelosi’s intending visit to Taiwan, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that the U.S will bear all the consequences if Pelosi insisted on visiting Taiwan.
Wang in a telephone conversation with French President diplomatic counselor Emmanuel Bonne condemned the planned visit and accused the U.S of a double stand as they are trying to take a nip on the one-China principle.
The Chinese officials also urged the U.S to immediately cancel the Speaker’s planned visit, stop official exchange between the U.S and Taiwan, and to also fulfill their commitment of not supporting Taiwan’s Independence.
Wang Yi reiterated that “If Pelosi, knowingly visits Taiwan, it would be a malicious provocation against China’s sovereignty and gross interference in China’s internal affairs, which would send an extremely dangerous political signal to the outside world,” he said.
Should the United States continue with its support for Taiwan, it would partially be in conflict with China, both economically and politically, and should a crisis ensue, both parties will be at the receiving end with serious damage.
