Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Tel Aviv, asserting that the operation successfully achieved its objectives.
The Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree stated on Wednesday that, “The operation achieved its goals successfully as the drones reached their targets without the enemy being able to confront or shoot them down.” The claim comes amid ongoing tensions in the region and follows a series of missile launches by the Houthis aimed at Israel.
The Houthis described the drone attack as part of their “fifth phase of the Battle of the Promised Conquest,” emphasizing their support for the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. They reported targeting a vital location in Tel Aviv using multiple drones, which they claim evaded Israeli defenses.
The Israeli military confirmed intercepting “a suspicious aerial target” but did not provide further details on the incident.
This attack follows previous Houthi missile strikes against Israeli cities, including an earlier missile aimed at Ben Gurion International Airport. In response to these provocations, Israel has conducted airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, particularly targeting key infrastructure like power plants and ports used for transferring arms.
The situation has escalated tensions significantly, with both sides engaging in retaliatory actions. The Houthis have vowed to continue their military operations against Israel until hostilities in Gaza and Lebanon cease.
