Israeli airstrikes have escalated dramatically in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah assets and causing significant casualties. On Friday, the Israeli military conducted extensive strikes in Beirut, aiming specifically at the headquarters of Hezbollah and its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
These operations resulted in at least six fatalities and numerous injuries, with reports indicating that the strikes caused considerable destruction in densely populated areas.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have claimed responsibility for targeting over 800 Hezbollah positions across Lebanon, including weapons depots and military structures embedded within civilian neighborhoods.
This marked one of the most intense phases of conflict since hostilities reignited following the October 7 attacks by Hamas. The IDF’s operations are part of a broader strategy to diminish Hezbollah’s military capabilities, with officials stating that they will continue until their objectives are met.
In response to the airstrikes, Hezbollah has launched numerous rockets into northern Israel, resulting in injuries among Israeli civilians. The ongoing conflict has led to a humanitarian crisis, with over 100,000 people displaced in Lebanon and estimates suggesting that this number could be as high as 500,000 due to the violence.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to persist with military operations against Hezbollah, emphasizing that Israel will not cease its attacks until the threat is neutralized.
