A two-story building collapsed in Saviano, southern Italy, early Sunday, killing a mother and her two young children, while rescuers search for the children’s grandmother still trapped under the rubble.
Authorities believe a gas explosion caused the collapse, according to firefighters. The victims include a 6-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl, and their mother, whose bodies were recovered hours after the incident.
The family’s 2-year-old sibling was found alive, along with their father, who remains hospitalized in serious condition. Rescue efforts continue cautiously to prevent further collapse.
