Chinese President Xi Jinping and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye presided over a signing ceremony in Beijing on Wednesday, during which several cooperation documents were signed between the two countries.The event marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between China and Senegal.
The two leaders discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and cultural exchanges.
During the ceremony, the two countries signed agreements aimed at boosting economic cooperation. These include deals related to trade, investment, and the development of special economic zones in Senegal. The agreements are expected to create new opportunities for businesses in both countries and promote sustainable economic growth.

China and Senegal also signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) focused on infrastructure development projects in Senegal. In addition to economic and infrastructure agreements, the two countries signed MOUs to promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people interactions. These include agreements related to education, tourism, and media cooperation. The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural ties to foster mutual understanding and enhance the friendship between the Chinese and Senegalese people.
Senegal President Bassirou Diomaye Faye welcomed the openness of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, adding that Senegal is willing to deepen relation with China as they set on track to develop their country.
China’s influence on the African continent continue to gain momentum since a decade now, with the Asia country committing its resources towards the development of the continent technologically and economically.
Both President Xi and President Faye expressed their commitment to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Senegal. They highlighted the shared values and interests that bind the two countries together and pledged to work closely to address global challenges and promote peace and development worldwide.
