Ten Killed and 55 Injured in Clashes Over Land Dispute in Kurram District
Clashes over a land dispute in various parts of Kurram District have entered their third day today, with both sides targeting each other with heavy weaponry.
Late at night, a dozen missiles were fired at the city of Parachinar. According to hospital administration, the gunfire has resulted in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 55 others so far.
According to the police, clashes are ongoing in Boshehra, Dandar, Balish Khel, Har Klay, Pewar, and Shepinah Shaga Gidu, while heavy firing is being reported at four locations in Kurram District.
Deputy Commissioner of Kurram, Javed Mehsud, has stated that members of the Grand Jirga have arrived from Hangu and Orakzai to negotiate a ceasefire, and efforts are underway to achieve peace.
Meanwhile, the main highway in Parachinar remains closed to all types of traffic, with hundreds of vegetable trucks stranded on the main road.
