During the hearing of the missing persons case in the Peshawar High Court, Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim remarked that a response must be submitted within 15 days and that, if necessary, the Chief Minister will be summoned again.
Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim presided over the hearing of the missing persons case, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur could not appear before the court.
The Chief Justice noted that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been summoned. The Advocate General informed the court that the Chief Minister was personally handling the Bannu incident and had a meeting with Bannu Jirga members, which is why he could not attend the hearing.
Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim remarked that not long ago, your party was similarly affected, and now, during your government, the same is happening. Every day, people come before us pleading for justice. Those who are guilty should be prosecuted.
The Chief Justice further stated that while some people misuse the situation, the authorities need to rectify themselves. He mentioned that people are often re-arrested outside the jail after being released on bail. He questioned why the Safety Commission has not been notified, given that it was introduced by the current government. The Advocate General responded that steps are being taken to notify the commission.
Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim instructed that the Safety Commission be notified as it would resolve many issues beforehand. The Advocate General likened their efforts to a 100-meter race, stating that there is much work to be done.
The Chief Justice retorted that they had previously participated in a 5,000-meter marathon as well and reiterated the need to submit a response within 15 days. If necessary, the Chief Minister would be summoned again.
Subsequently, the Peshawar High Court adjourned the hearing of the missing persons case.
