In the region of Damadola, Tehsil Mamund, a remote-controlled bomb targeted the vehicle of former Senator Hidayatullah, resulting in the deaths of five individuals.
The explosion claimed the lives of former Senator Hidayatullah, Malik Irfan, Nazaruddin, Yar Muhammad, and Samiur Rahman. Former Senator Hidayatullah had traveled to Damadola to support his nephew, PK-22 candidate Najeebullah, in his election campaign.
Former Senator Hidayatullah Khan served as a member of the Senate from 2012 to 2024. He was twice elected as an independent member from FATA, served as a member of NACTA, and chaired the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation.
Hidayatullah Khan was from Nawagai and was the younger brother of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan and the son of former MNA Haji Bismillah Khan.
Hidayatullah Khan, along with his companions, was returning to the headquarters in Khar after the election campaign when his vehicle was hit by the explosion.
Upon receiving the news of the blast, a significant number of police and law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene. Rescue teams promptly transported the bodies to the hospital for necessary procedures.
President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, Senator Faisal Saleem, former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, and others expressed their condolences over the incident.
