The European Union is set to intensify its measures against Apple, with new developments expected to unfold on Monday regarding the company’s adherence to the Digital Markets Act. This announcement was made by Commissioner Thierry Breton in a recent post on X.
“For an extended period, Apple has been stifling innovative companies, thereby depriving consumers of new opportunities and choices,” stated Commissioner Thierry Breton.
Apple informed the media that it has “made several changes to comply with the DMA in response to feedback from developers and the European Commission.
The EU Internal Market Commissioner, remarked, “Apple’s new slogan should be ‘act different’. Today, we take further steps to ensure Apple complies with the DMA rules.”
Companies found guilty of violating these rules can face penalties of up to 10% of their global annual revenue, with the potential to increase to 20% for repeated offenses.
