President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged for enhanced cooperation between Nigerian law enforcement agencies and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in combating cybercrime, terrorism, and related offenses.
The president revealed the information during a meeting with FBI Director Christopher Asher Wray at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.
Also present at the meeting were the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi; Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd); and Chief of Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Major-General Emmanuel Undiandeye, among other dignitaries.
Tinubu characterized the FBI director’s presence in Nigeria, along with his team, as a testament to the longstanding partnership between Nigeria and the United States in combatting financial crimes and terrorism.
Director Wray from FBI stated that his visit to the country aimed to strengthen the “exceptional partnership” between the governments of Nigeria and the United States.
