US Secretary of State Antony Blinken criticized Hamas on Wednesday during a press conference in Doha with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, according to reports from Israeli media.
Blinken stated that “rather than responding positively to the [ceasefire and hostage release] proposal, they are demanding significant changes to the agreement.”
Blinken added, “Some of Hamas’s proposed changes go beyond what was previously agreed upon, but we will continue to push for the deal’s implementation. I believe these gaps can be bridged.”
He also mentioned that the US will present plans for the Gaza Strip’s future in the coming weeks, emphasizing, “Hamas must not be allowed to decide the region’s future.”
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, called for a clear and firm end to the war in Gaza.
