Former U.S. President Donald Trump has submitted a request to the Georgia Court of Appeals as he demands oral arguments against Fani Willis
In a statement provided by Trump’s lead defense counsel in Fulton County Steve Sadow said “President Trump has filed his request for oral argument in the Georgia Court of Appeals, currently calendared for October.
We believe oral argument will assist the Court by highlighting and clarifying the reasons why the case should be dismissed and Fulton County DA Willis should be disqualified for her misconduct”, he said.
The case against Fani Willis’s disqualification was brought forward by Trump co-defendants based on Willis’s romantic relationship with Nathan Wade who she earlier hired as special prosecutor for the Trump case.
The motion was later followed by Trump and other defendants.
Though denying any wrongdoings and admitting to the relationship between Willis and Nathan, the defendants filed a motion for Willis only to stay on the case while Nathan resigned from the case.
Unhappy with the request, the former president and other defendants decided the Georgia Court of Appeals for redress with the case and oral arguments set for October 4.
Trump’s appeal focuses majorly on the disqualification of Fani Willis for her speech made during the historic Black church on Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, and also on complex cases related to appeals that are based on failure to disqualify Willis could result in costly retrials.
