Russian FM Sergei Lavrov during a BRICS meeting in Russia said the world is gearing toward a multipolar world order, adding that the United States has failed in its bid to maintain global hegemony.
The BRICS countries whose influence has risen over the years are currently challenging the economic influence of the Western countries and allies, as the total GDP of the BRICS superseding the Western allies.
Speaking at the meeting, Lavrov informed the group that Russia remains committed to a multipolar world order where countries should be able to make decisions without external influence.
“The U.S and its allies try to preserve dominance and slow down multipolarity by using economic tools as weapons through sanction pressure and blackmail,” Lavrov said.
He added that the power wielded by the United States is collapsing gradually, signaling a new shift in global politics.
“The West had tried using force such as in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine, and several others – that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
But recent international events have pulled the mask off those who had claimed exclusive rights to determine the so-called universal values, under the guise of a rule-based order”, Lavrov concluded.
Political shift is arising globally stemming from difficulties faced by the United States regarding Ukraine and Israel, with many countries shifting allegiance to the East dominated by Russia and China.
