The Kaduna State House of Assembly’s Committee, tasked with investigating loans, grants, and project implementation from 2015 to 2023 during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, submitted its report on Wednesday.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, the Ad-hoc Committee’s Chairman, Henry Zacharia, submitted the report, which implicated the former Governor and recommended further investigation into his actions. Allegations surfaced that certain loans were obtained without following due processes.
El-Rufai and his commissioners were accused in the report of abusing office, awarding contracts without due process, diverting public funds, engaging in money laundering, and excessively borrowing, which left the state heavily indebted.
The House Committee recommended that El-Rufai and some of his implicated officials undergo further investigation by security operatives and anti-graft agencies.
The House Committee, while advocating for a comprehensive investigation into key officials who served during the El-Rufai administration, called for the immediate suspension of the Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance, Shizer Badda, and the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board.
