According to reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress on June 13.
However, neither Netanyahu nor Congressional leaders have confirmed this date, as reported by the Punchbowl news site. It’s worth noting that June 13 coincides with the second day of the Shavuot holiday, which is observed for only one day in Israel.
Additionally, US President Joe Biden is unlikely to be in Washington that day, as he is expected to attend a G7 summit in Italy.
Netanyahu stated on Saturday that there would be no “permanent ceasefire” in Gaza until Hamas’s military and governing capabilities were dismantled.
His remarks, issued in a rare statement published on the Sabbath and exclusively in English, followed United States President Joe Biden’s announcement on Friday.
Biden revealed that Israel had proposed a three-phase ceasefire deal in Gaza, contingent upon Hamas releasing hostages. He urged the terror group to accept the proposal and encouraged the Israeli government to support it.
