The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) responded to reports of soldiers surrounding the venue of its meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
The Labour, via its official Twitter handle now X Platform, cautioned that any efforts to intimidate its leaders would exacerbate the situation.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, summoned the leadership of Organised Labour for a meeting. Although the reason for the meeting was not disclosed, it is likely related to issues such as the minimum wage and the ongoing nationwide strike.
NLC and TUC insisted they would proceed with the strike today, following a meeting last night with the leadership of the National Assembly.
Despite efforts by the National Assembly leadership to persuade the labor unions to suspend the strike, negotiations on their demands could continue. President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, informed journalists in Abuja about the stalemate.
