EFCC has announced a 5% reward for whistleblowers who provide credible information leading to the prosecution of offenders, in a bid to further strengthen its campaign against the abuse of the Naira.
Dele Oyewale, the spokesman of the EFCC, made this known in Abuja on Monday while appearing as a guest on the EFCC 97.3FM Abuja talk show.
Oyewale stressed the commission’s dedication to enforcing the law and safeguarding the economy against the adverse effects of Naira abuse.
He clarified that the 5% reward is designed to incentivize whistleblowers to step forward with information that will assist in the prosecution of offenders.
He further mentioned that the EFCC has already achieved close to 50 convictions nationwide since the establishment of the task force on Naira abuse and dollarization.
The EFCC spokesman stressed that refusing to accept the Naira as legal tender constitutes a criminal offense, and perpetrators will be dealt with according to the law.
